Does he feel anything romantically for Re-l?

Gee, I wonder what gave that one away?

He feels...lots of things for Re-l. In fact, in Romdeau where feelings are generally quite socially constrained and repressed, she's probably the primary thing he'll admit to having any feelings about- to himself. Since they were young, she's been a constant in his life, he's been in many ways her primary support after Iggy, her entourage.

Outwardly, he can't really openly express his affection for Re-l. One, he's her primary physician, and there's a boundary of professionalism to maintain. Two...she's got a very different, important role to play in things, he knows full well that she's made in the image of a 'godlike' being, and he's conceded to something of a backseat role because he's very aware of where he stands in relation to Proxies.

But he has called her his 'treasure', his 'favorite', his 'raison d'etre', and he keeps her pictures up on his desk. He'd probably admit to a very strong platonic love- Daedalus is a scientist and a clinical person and doesn't really like to reveal things like romantic feelings...but its pretty obvious from his actions, his eventual jealousy and obsession, the way he kinda goes nuts in her absence- he does have strong feelings for her that go above and beyond. If there's anything in life he really, truly loves, has faith in, is proud for, it is her.

Could he ever fall in love with someone not Re-l?

You mean besides the replacement (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ReplacementGoldfish) goldfish (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_A2yhQBI8aqk/SDzqNvWAU7I/AAAAAAAACSo/zjXed77yQ0Q/s1600/Lil%2B(109).jpg)?

It would take a lot of time for a person like Daedalus to develop that kind of intimate feeling for someone else, that intense of an attachment, and probably a whole lot of guilty feelings once he recognized he was falling for someone else.

His devotion to Re-l is understated but still very intensive- he kinda goes a little crazynuts for loss of her, even if he can 'maintain himself' and hold it together on the surface. He would probably peg developing feelings for anyone else as a selfish indulgence.

That said, there's a lot of people who stimulate a good deal of his interest. But he's a very clinically detached person- despite tolerance and warmth in his care, he keeps people at an emotional arms length. Even Re-l, especially Re-l, in many respects. It's his job and his duty to look after people's welfare without expecting care back- he can take care of his own needs, he's convinced himself that a long time ago.

(Not that he's not harboring a little bitterness about it.)

What's the most important thing to Daedalus? A person, a set of values, an idea?

^ See above blurb about Re-l Mayer first. That should clear a lot of things.

Aside from her, Daedalus is very concerned about humanity having a purpose-- his canon death monologue spells that out pretty clearly in a 'this life has been an exercise in futility' kind of way. He's got a subtle undercurrent of 'perpetually bothered' going on that's probably a constant gnawing of 'Why?' on the edge of his curiosity. He likes answers. He likes deep questions. He likes to know things. He genuinely enjoys watching other people seek things out and come to their own conclusions.
