[Daedalus has another hour or so to spare before he should be heading over to Skye...so his doctor's coat is hanging neatly on the peg stand beside the door, but he's in cotton medical scrubs for now, a little bleary, trying to wake himself up and keep things in order before their guest arrives.

No offense to the probably fascinating Burmecian Knight, he holds little against Fratley and won't be too grumpy about the arrangements...but he's still privately forelorn at losing Re-l's company for a few days in the tradeoff.

'It would be improper.' She'd said. At least he could be grateful she was so comfortable in cohabitation with her longtime friend and doctor.]

Sir Fratley.

[He smiles tiredly, trying not to stare, ushering him inside-

The apartment is modern, a comfortably minimalist sofa, coffee table, reading chair...white, smooth lines, a countertop with stools and a small kitchen, clean because they haven't really made great strides to mastering the art of cooking, and because Romdeau citizens tend to be a bit compulsive about keeping things like dishes and tea mugs in their proper place and not strewn about unwashed.

The wall behind the sofa has a tube of lighting installed beneath it, angled to project images up onto the wall, to cut the bland stretch of white- right now, it's displaying virtual fishtank of sorts.

There are vertical blinds and a small sliding glass enclosed, well darkness-proofed balcony. It's a nice northward view of the fourth district, the island's main broadcasting and radio tower only a few blocks away.]

Come in...ah- make yourself comfortable.

I am sorry to impose. [ Somehow, even with an unwieldy-looking bag slung over one shoulder and a marginally less unwieldy spear balanced on the other shoulder, the knight manages to be graceful as he steps through the threshold, tail curling and flicking behind him like a living thing.

He pauses, though, just long enough to scuff his bare, clawed feet (paws) on whatever the apartment has that passes for a welcome mat. It wouldn't do to track dirt inside. ]

Where may I put my belongings? [ He's glancing around with visible interest, perked ears and raised tail telegraphing his curiosity more visibly than his calm, gentle voice. The virtual fishtank draws his attention, as well, eyes caught by the illusion before he realizes what he's actually looking at. ]

[Yes. Trying very hard not to stare, particularly at the tail, or the...gentleman's face.

But he's still altogether curious, standing apprehensive before motioning uncertainly.]

Ah- beside the couch is fine, or the the table, anywhere, really. You'll be here by yourself for the night, I do have work- and probably will return shortly before you leave for your shift, Re-l tells me. Make yourself at home?

[action]

[identity profile] by-your-leave.livejournal.com 2010-10-30 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ If Fratley notices, he's polite enough not to draw attention to it. ]

Yes. You are typically on the night shift at the hospital, are you not? [ While he speaks, he sets his bag on the floor beside the couch, then after some consideration, decides to prop his spear up against an unoccupied corner (where it's less likely to get knocked over), blade facing away from the wall. ]

If I may assist you in any way, please let me know at once. [ He takes off his hat, setting it carefully on the couch, and bright blue eyes now visible under a messy fall of blond hair regard Daedalus with strange intensity. ]

It is the least I can do.

Yes, typically, although I'm told the weeks preceding Halloween can be busy, so I may be called in a bit early to cover the back half of swing shift.

[He gives a questioning look to the spear]

Ah- there's really nothing to be done, spare...keeping the place uncluttered. If there's anything we ever need picked up, Re-l and I usually just...call each other up on our way home.

[action]

[identity profile] by-your-leave.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
I see.

[ Fratley follows the questioning gaze and tilts his head. ]

Yes?

My spear. [ ignore the fact that it's more like a glaive and taller than Daedalus. he pulls it away from the wall and offers it to Daedalus if he wants to give it a closer look-- but he should be careful trying to hold it, as it's fairly heavy (and as far as he can tell, completely wrought of metal) ]

It is a dragon knight's weapon of choice, and the one I have the greatest experience with. I am learning to use a gun now, but I still prefer this.

[Daedalus is...unwieldy with it, to say the least, and he takes it only briefly before shaking his head and passing it back to Fratley.]

I see. Ah- Yes, I can imagine learning firearms could be a bit difficult.

[identity profile] by-your-leave.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly, they were not made with Burmecians in mind. [ Fratley smiles wryly, propping the spear back against the wall. ]

Have you treated many people injured by firearms, Doctor Daedalus? I have been frequently cautioned about how dangerous they are, but I have little idea of the kind of damage they can cause. [ Shooting at paper targets doesn't really give him a clear idea of that. ]

[identity profile] gaveherwings.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[It seems a crude way to engage in hostilities, but...he's not about to say so, just...gives the spear a long curious look before looking back at Fratley with a somber not.]

Yes, I have. A bullet wound is a serious injury, with a very high rate of fatality if it hits anywhere near the chest cavity, head. Blood loss from a gun wound is always serious.

Officers of the Law typically carry non-lethal caliber shells- that is, not meant to penetrate.

[identity profile] by-your-leave.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ What Edgeworth said was true enough, then. Fratley's ears splay back, delicately, and his tail stills briefly before it moves again, curling around his leg. There's a small leather band of sorts tied around it, the leather stiff from exposure to the elements and months-- perhaps years-- of wear. ]

So I have been told. Though the use of firearms remains a method of last resort, regardless.

[identity profile] gaveherwings.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes... [A wary nod. Such a last resort that with the Proxy, he'd only armed Re-l with a grand total two FP shells.

Just in case she missed. Re-l Mayer generally didn't.]

I'm sure they've covered that, in your training?

[identity profile] by-your-leave.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ He nods. ]

I am not a very good shot, I'm afraid.

For patrolling in the Darkness, we are advised to bring lethal ammunition. [ He frowns. ]

[identity profile] gaveherwings.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Most things that lurk the darkness- you'd want to be able to dispatch them quickly. Most people that carry out their business by night...are generally presumed to be of questionable nature, too.

However- there's something far more effective than lethal ammunition, for the monsters.

[identity profile] by-your-leave.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Is that so? [ Fratley tilts his head, questioningly. ] And what is that?

[identity profile] gaveherwings.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Concentrated rounds of artificial sunlight. Harmless to humans- but it banishes the creatures of darkness, as if it were day.

...It will probably be some time before ammunition like that is readily accessible to the police force.
